In June 1841, Sarah Bartlett was an independent, aged 70, living at Pig Hill.
Sarah (nee Baker) was born about 1768. On 4 September 1798, she married Edward Bartlett at Hardington. Edward signed the register, and Sarah put a mark.
Edward died on 25 March 1839, aged 84, leaving an estate valued at under £100, which included a house and the adjoining Tobey’s Plot. He left it to his wife for life and then to his sons, Edward and Joseph.[1]
Sarah died in September 1842, aged 74.
In addition to their two sons, Edward and Sarah had one daughter, Edith, who married George Purchase in 1829.
