In June 1841, Joan Haggett was an independent, aged 65, living in Church Lane.

Jane, born in about 1772, was the daughter of John and Joan Genge. On 31 August 1801, at Pendomer, she married John Haggett of Hardington. In 1811, John occupied the Church House at Hardington.

In 1820, Joan inherited from her brother, William Genge, a yeoman of Corscombe, the interest on £100 for life.

From 1832 to 1838, Joan’s husband was on the voters’ list for his freehold interest in Moor Orchard.

Joan’s husband died in August 1839, aged 68.

In 1843, Joan occupied Church House, Hardington.

Joan died in November 1847, aged 75.

Her children

John and Joan had four children: John, Susannah, Sarah and William. John died in 1830, and Sarah died in 1820. In March 1851, William was in Shepton Mallet prison. Susannah married John Sandiford in 1834 and lived until 1880.
