In April 1891, Robert Charles Pike was a dairyman at Marsh Dairy. Robert’s wife, Emily Jane, was a dairywoman.

Early life

Robert was born at Shaftesbury in 1854, the son of Charles and Phoebe. His father was a farm worker.

In April 1871, his parents lived next to Cherry Orchard Farm, Shaftesbury.

Between 1873 and 1881, his parents moved to Motcombe.

Married life

On 11 February 1884, Robert married Emily Jane Stacey at Motcombe. She was the daughter of James Stacey, a farm labourer.

By April 1891, Robert was the dairyman at Marsh Dairy. Robert’s niece, Martha Sharp, aged 5, was a visitor. Martha was the daughter of Robert’s sister, Annie.

In March 1901, Robert was a farmer at Edward’s Farm, Cann, Dorset. In April 1911, he was a farmer at Castle Farm, Donhead St Mary. In June 1921, he was a smallholder and farm labourer, living at Bramble Farm, Shaftesbury.

Emily died in 1930, aged 77.

Robert died on 18 March 1933, aged 78, leaving effects valued at £318-10s-6d. His last address was at Bittles Green, Motcombe.

Robert and Emily had no children.
