In April 1891, Emily Jane Pike was a dairywoman at Marsh Dairy. Emily’s husband, Robert Charles Pike, was the dairyman.
Early life
Emily was born at Motcombe in about 1863, the daughter of James and Caroline Stacey. Her father was a farm worker. Both the civil registration records and the baptism register record her name as Emma Jane.
In April 1881, Emily was a domestic servant at Coward House, Motcombe, the home of George Hiscock, a farmer of 160 acres.
Married life
On 11 February 1884, Emily married Robert Charles Pike at Motcombe.
In April 1891, Robert and Emily lived at Marsh Dairy. Robert’s niece, Martha Sharp, aged 5, was a visitor. Martha was the daughter of Robert’s sister, Annie.
In March 1901, Robert and Emily lived at Edward’s Farm, Cann, Dorset. In April 1911, they lived at Castle Farm, Donhead St Mary. In June 1921, they lived at Bramble Farm, Shaftesbury.
Emily died in 1930, aged 77.
Robert died on 18 March 1933, aged 78, leaving effects valued at £318-10s-6d. His last address was at Bittles Green, Motcombe.
Robert and Emily had no children.
