Introduction

Edward Genge was a carpenter at Hardington from the 1820s until about 1842, when he and his family emigrated to Canada.

Life at Hardington

Edward was born at Hardington Mandeville on 3 April 1804, the second child of Richard and Edith Genge.

On 15 January 1829, Edward married Harriett Symes at East Coker.

In June 1841, Edward and Harriett lived with their five children in a house near William Guppy’s farm.

Emigration

Edward, Harriett, and their children emigrated to Ontario, Canada, in about 1841. Their daughter, Harriett, was born in Ontario in about 1842.

Death

Harriett died on 11 August 1873, and Edward died on 8 April 1889.
