In June 1841, Jonas Delamont was a shoemaker at Oil Moor.
Jonas, born at Hardington in about 1770, was the son of John and Mary.
On 16 April 1794, he married Elizabeth Rendell at Hardington. She died in January 1826, aged 52.
On 16 November 1826, he married Sarah Delamont at Hardington.
In June 1841, Jonah, his wife, Sarah, and his eighteen-year-old daughter by his first wife, Sarah, lived at Oil Moor. His daughter, Sarah, died two months later.
In 1843, Jonas held two cottages in Moor Lane.
Jonas died in July or August 1850, aged 80; Sarah died in December 1855, aged 71.
Children
Jonas had three children by his first marriage and nine by his second.
Jonas’s property appears to have passed to Jonah, his oldest son by his second wife. Jonah died in 1892.
Jonah’s oldest son, Edwin, who lived at Hardington Moor, died in 1930, leaving an estate valued at £180-7s-6d. He left all his property to his wife for life and then to their six children.
