Mary was born in about 1761, outside of Somerset, probably in a Dorset parish near Misterton. Her maiden name was Larcomb.

She married Malachi Baker of Hardington at Misterton on 1 January 1788. Both she and Malachi signed the register with a cross.
Children
Mary and Malachi had seven daughters and no sons.
Husband’s death
Malachi died in February 1830 at the age of 76.
Second marriage
On 14 November 1832, Mary married Charles Bartlett at Hardington. He signed the marriage register, while she made a cross.
Death of second husband
Charles died in February 1837 at Hardington at the age of 69, and was buried at East Chinnock.
Mary’s later life
In June 1841, Mary Bartlett was an independent, probably living in Swins Lane with her daughter, Elizabeth Hackwell and granddaughter, Mary Hackwell.
In 1843, Mary occupied a house at Broad Hill (plot 406 on the tithe map) and a plot of 25 perches (plot 412 on the tithe map).
