In April 1861, Reuben Cox was a blacksmith, aged 21, living in his parent’s home at Hill End.

Reuben was born at Hardington in 1839. He was the youngest son of Thomas Gill Cox and his wife, Joanna (nee Cleal). His father was a farm labourer who later ran a shop.

On 4 March 1863, Yeovil magistrates fined Simeon Abbott and Reuben Cox £2 each for assaulting Charlotte Frampton, a servant at East Fields.[1]

Reuben died in April 1865 at the age of 26.
